What is a PIN code, why is it needed?

The PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a four-digit secret code that can only be known and used by the cardholder. Be careful, it mustn’t fall into the wrong hands. You need your PIN code when you want to withdraw money from an ATM, or when you want to buy more than 50 EUR at a POS terminal, or when you use the card for the first time.
